Morphologic Changes of Rat Testis after Vasectomy-until 6 months

Abstract
Vasectomy is widely used as male contraception. There has been controversy about the effects of vasectomy on testicular morphology. Some insist that vasectomy does not alter the testicular morphology, but others persist that it does alter, and still others assert that it may alter.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of vasectomy on testicular morphology. The structures of seminiferous tubules, number of spermatids per tubule and minimal diameter of tubule were measured at intervals up to 6 months after bilateral vasectomy in rats.
The structures of seminiferous tubules were different from those of control groups up to 3 months, but were same at 6 months. The number of spermatids per seminiferous tubule and minimal diameter of seminiferous tubule were same as those of control groups until 6 months.
